27th Annual 10K Family Walk

PLEASE NOTE:
There is NO day-of-race registration or packet pick-up available for any of our events.

The 10K Family Walk is an event for friends and family members of all ages and fitness levels. The Walk starts at the 20-mile mark of the Portland Marathon, on N. Willamette Blvd. by Columbia Park Annex, which is also the start location for the 10K Downhill Dash, the newest addition to the Portland Marathon's festival of events. The 10K Family Walk has a two hour open start, so walkers may begin right after the Downhill Dash runners have gotten underway at 8:00 a.m., or anytime thereafter, right up until 10:00 a.m., if they choose to do so. Shuttle buses will run from the finish area from 7:30 a.m. to Noon to carry Walkers to the start, and also to carry Walk finishers back to their cars for those who choose to park at the start. The course traces the last 6.2 miles of the Marathon route, though 10K walkers stay on the sidewalk or to the right of the marathoners at all times. In addition to participating in their own fitness event and being able to enjoy the music and fanfare afforded the marathoners, our 10K Walkers also serve as a moving band of spectators to cheer on the passing Marathoners as they work their way along the last miles to the finish!

Date: Oct. 7, 2012

Time: Anytime between 8:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M.

Place: N. Willamette Blvd. at N. Woolsey, across from Columbia Park Annex.

Entry Fee:
$40 for adults and $30 for children under 12 and seniors 65 and older (This includes shirt, ribbon, and shuttle bus to start point). On-Line Pre-registration entries ONLY. No entries will be offered at the Portland Hilton on October 7th and 8th.

Packets:
Packet pick-up at the Portland Hilton on Friday during Expo Hours 11:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. NO DAY OF RACE ENTRY OR PACKET PICKUP POSSIBLE. Shirts for all who pick up their packet.

Transportation:
For those Walkers who choose to park downtown near the finish area and then ride our shuttle buses to the start, they will begin running from the Salmon side of the Heathman Hotel (between Broadway and Park) at 7:30 a.m. The buses will continue to run until approx. 12 Noon to also transport walk finishers, who parked at the start area, back to their vehicles.

Course:
Follows the last 6.2 miles of the marathon course and starts on Willamette Blvd. across from Columbia Park Annex. Click here to view a map.

1. The walk is not competitive but is designed as a fun fitness event. There are ribbons for all finishers.
